This project consisted of sketching, wire-framing, logo design, mobile layout, web design, and web development. The first task was to create an effective and simple logo that reflected a theme of a classic Italian pizzeria. There were many variations of the logo before the final version was made. The logo that was selected most accurately portrayed the overall look and feel of the pizzeria. Firstly, the layout sketches had to be planned for mobile, tablet, and desktop/laptop platforms. After the sketches were complete, the sketches were made into low-fidelity drafts so that the layout could be further improved. Color was introduced into the second draft phase, where a high-fidelity version was made to explore design options and to have an idea of what the final might look like. The color palette derived from the pizzeria’s branding, such as reds, greens, and oranges which became part of the website’s color scheme.

Once the final drafts were made, I began developing the website. The mobile version was developed first and then it was later adapted into tablet and desktop versions. There was a lot of emphasis on making the mobile site a priority because of the target market and a higher demand for responsive mobile sites. Relevant information was added such as maps, location, hours, menu items, image slider, call button for mobile, and social media links. Other features that were added to the site: a contact section where customers may send a message and a link to a separate webpage where customers may place their order online. Other aspects were taken into account such as search engine optimization, responsive images, and browser compatibility. The site may be viewed from any browser, but some site features may not be viewable on IE 8 such as the image slider.
