CTA Mobile App Redesign

Redesigning the CTA Mobile App has been a passion project of mine. The actual app is called Chicago Transit Tracker and is available for Android-operated devices. For this project, I improved the app’s appearance, redesigned navigation structure, and added more functionality to through design storyboarding. The first step I took was testing the current app on a group of people ages 18-50 who regularly use public transit, and got their feedback on what could be improved. After the first testing process and with the results in mind, I drafted a sketch of a new app with variations of its basic functions.

I created a paper prototype for a second round of tests to see if the users noticed the improvements and to get additional feedback. I created a scenario to simulate a situation to see if they are able to navigate the app with ease. Once testing was over and the results were compiled, I noticed the users were able to use the app more easily and were less likely to get lost. Using all of the data I have collected over the course of the project, I created a high-fidelity version of the app, which features its new appearance, improved design, and added features that would enhance the user’s experience, such as voice control and real time bus/train locator.
